Hides cured by brining have been treated by suspension or drumming in strong salt solution. The hides are then drained and may be further salted with dry salt on the surface. Most of the conditions apply as for wet salted stock but the hide will have a higher water content. Care condition known as brine draw can effect the grain of brined hides and is seen as a slightly drawn or shrunk effect in the grain pattern. To avoid making this worse the stock must be given very gentle mechanical action during beamhouse processing i.e. stop start running during soak and liming.
