Gore launches new product brand
As of autumn 2018 the existing brand Gore-Te will be supplemented with the new product brand Gore-Tex Infinium. This brand will in future host all product technologies besides “waterproof” and “breathable” that nevertheless offer a plus in functions. This comprises new technologies as well as new kinds of garments, shoes and accessories. These products can be recognised by their white diamond logo. Simultaneously, Gore will continue to launch waterproof and breathable product innovations onto the market that will feature a black diamond logo. As a first step as of autumn 2018, several market partners will offer Infinium products in four different categories, amongst them shoes, in their retail stores. “Gore-Tex Infinium will complement our well-known product brand Gore-Tex and offer a variety of new exciting product options to our customers”, says Christian Langer, Global Sales and Marketing Leader of the Gore Fabrics Division. “Like for example most favoured shoes keeping your feet warm during winter and being stylish at the same time, because they feature a unique thin isolation and thus make the usual bulky look of winter shoes history.”
cads becomes a registered association
cads will start as an independent association into the New Year. On the 13th December, the change in the charter of amendment and the transformation of the cooperation into a registered association has been determined within the scope of the cads general assembly. The new logo features natural-looking shades of green. The sequence of letters cads has been kept deliberately. It now stands for “Cooperation for assuring defined standards for shoe – and leather goods production e.V.”
The cooperation that has been founded ten years ago under the roof of the German shoe institute, first focused especially on the prevention of hazardous materials in the shoe and leather manufacture. Furthermore, it will now focus on the comprehensive topic sustainability comprising important aspects such as environment and social standards. “cads is a unique transnational branch solution that stands up for a sustainable development in the shoe and leather goods industry along the entire value-added chain”, as chairman Michael Tackenberg summarises the tasks and targets. Despite its still young history cads can already look back on remarkable successes. “We have moved a lot in the past years and started a lot of new projects” says Tackenberg with a certain pride.As of the 1st January 2018 the cads will number 80 member companies from the sectors industry and trade. Only in 2017 13 new members joined – a record in the history of cads. The cads executive board has been re-elected unanimously on the 13th December. Besides chairman Michael Tackenberg (Gabor), the chosen ones are deputy chairman Andreas Tepest (Deichmann), Andreas Burmeister (Wortmann), Christian Ludy (Lowa), Sven Reimers (Lloyd), Holger Schäfer (Ara) and Dr. Siegfried Schwarzer (Hamm Reno).
Ultra Violet will be the colour of the year
The colour institute Pantone has presented the colour of the year 2018. The chosen colour is “Pantone 18-3838 Ultra Violet”. During the entire year, the Pantone colour experts have traced colour trends worldwide in art, fashion and design, the entertainment industry and many other life sectors to be able to make this choice. “The Pantone colour of the year means so much more than what is “in” in the design world. It reflects the interests of today’s world”, says Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Colour Institute.After a fresh green in the year 2017 and rose quartz in the year 2016, the choice for 2018 fell on a more intense colour with ultra violet. “The balanced and dramatically provocative lilac shade expresses originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking” and will thus be the trend colour of the coming year according to the colour experts.
300 exhibitors will attend the I.L.M
From the 3rd to 5th March 2018 the I.L.M. Winter Styles 2018 will take place in Offenbach. Roughly 300 exhibitors from approximately 25 countries will present their collections for autumn/winter 2018/19 on the international leather goods fair. Also for the coming event the fair halls comprising a 13,000 square metres area will be fully booked. The Capitol which immediately adjoins the halls will be a fixed part of the I.L.M. and thus enables for example new comers to participate with their collections to the fair that’s been fully booked for years. Internationality is not a lip service in Offenbach. Mainly the rising amount of trendy Italian sellers is attracting attention. Internationality, however, is not only characterising the exhibitor’s structure, also among visitors the amount of foreign buyers is on the rise. For the I.L.M Winter Styles 2018 roughly 6,000 visitors, shoe and textile dealers among them, from more than 50 countries will be expected.
