Position purpose:

The Plant Controller is accountable for the accounting and controlling of a soon-to-be acquired chemical production plant in Leverkusen. Since the plant is newly acquired, the position entails a high degree of being able influence processes and set-ups. The ideal candidate would hence be expected to suggest new ideas.

Please note that the position is based in Leverkusen. However, until the plant is acquired (Q1 2021) the onboarding will take place remotely or in Rheinfelden. Alternatively, there is the possibility to onboard partially in TFL plants in Italy or France (depending on the COVID-19 situation).

Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Production accounting tasks, such as performing costing runs, managing production cost centers and maintaining standard costs and activity rates
  • Plant controlling, including analyzing and explaining variances to forecast and budget
  • Identifying cost saving or performance improvement opportunities and highlighting those to plant and TFL management
  • Providing financial input to production forecasts and budgets in close interaction with production management
  • Providing financial input to CAPEX decisions in close interaction with production management

Education/Qualifications:

  • Certified accountant or degree in Finance with focus on accounting and/or controlling
  • 3 years of experience in plant controlling and accounting is required
  • Strong SAP FI/CO user knowledge
  • Basic German GAAP and IFRS knowledge is required
  • Knowledge of production processes, ideally in the chemical industry
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing company or related industry is a plus
  • Fluent German and English language skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel skills
  • Eager to engage in self-development by attending internal and external trainings
  • Proactive attitude and ability to think analytically
  • High degree of independence and self-motivation (physical distance to rest of Finance team)
  • Analytical thinking, high accuracy and attention for detail
  • Strong communication skills
