Position Purpose:

As member of the Management Team of the TFL plant in Leverkusen, you ensure that Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) rules on site are clearly defined, known and applied by everyone, including third parties and visitors. You provide support regarding EHS activities to all operational areas and represent the site management in the relationship with Currenta and Authorities on EHS matters. Depending on your availability and experience, you will lead EHS activities and projects at group level.

Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • You define EHS site rules according to the TFL Group EHS Policy and ensure their implementation across the site
  • You ensure regulatory monitoring in the EHS domain and ISO certifications 14001
  • You lead the Site Safety Committee and ensure the implementation of its decisions
  • You implement preventive measures in order to reduce accident frequency, frequency of environmental incidents and injury severity rates
  • You ensure that all internal safety equipment controls are performed and recorded
  • You ensure that safe working conditions are established (e.g., using work permits)
  • In alignment with the IMS responsible, you ensure that all rules related to ISO certifications 14001 are implemented
  • You ensure that rules related to REACH regulation are implemented and followed in operational areas
  • You ensure internal EHS audits on site in Leverkusen
  • You regularly report EHS status and activities to the TFL Group
  • You oversee chemical risks evaluation and occupational health follow-ups
  • You ensure that regulatory controls of concerned equipment are performed and related actions in accordance with the Engineering and Maintenance Department implemented
  • You act as technical coordinator of all contract related EHS activities that are outsourced
  • You ensure the preparation of EHS-related documents requested by authorities

Education / Qualification and desired requirements:

  • You are a Chemical Engineer or have Chemical Engineering background
  • You have 10 - 15 years of experience in large Chemical Industries as EHS Manager or Production / operations Manager
  • An additional qualification in safety is desired
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and written
  • Outstanding ability to build relationships across functions and excellent negotiation skills
  • Leadership experience is desired
  • You are a team player
  • You have a project-oriented mindset and are results-oriented
  • You speak German and English fluently
