New TFL products for finishing

The newly developed RODA® pur ADX is a very soft and finely dispersed polyurethane that can be utilized for all type of leather articles. Due to its high wetting power, it can be used as adhesion promoter, even on very greasy and / or hydrophobic leather. The application of  RODA® pur ADX does not negatively influence the water resistance of the leather. ADX can also be added to TopCARE in order to improve its adhesion. TFL, one of the leading suppliers of specialty chemicals to the leather industry, announces the intention to increase the selling prices on a global basis.
TFL is forced to adjust its prices of the whole product range. This is mainly due to a tightening of feedstock supplies undergone by TFL´s suppliers of raw materials and active ingredients.
The 10% increase will come into effect on

TFL introduces ERHAVIT® DC, a highly concentrated formulation based on selective reductive substances and non-volatile amines.
ERHAVIT® DC is a new very effective liming agent specifically designed to improve the cleanliness of the grain and to reduce seasonal fine hair and hair roots in general. OROPON® – Advanced bating technology to optimise the usable area

During the past 15-20 years, we have seen significant changes in hide quality, preservation as well as customer demands. Cattle are being raised faster and the animals reach maturity at an earlier age, which leaves the collagen structure with less crosslinks and thereby more sensitive. TFL announces Price increase

New Eco-friendly aqueous degreasing system by TFL

A good degreasing system for sheep and lamb skins is one of the major points for producing a quality garment article. Some
raw pelts, which are currently pickled in the country of origin, can contain up to 50% of natural fats. This natural fat has to be dispersed and removed as much as possible. However, traditional white spirit solvent degreasing is not an eco-friendly system. It should be replaced for environmental and performance reasons.

Horst Graf, TFL´s Senior Vice President will retire end 2000.
Horst Graf - after initial commercial studies - took up tanning as his vocation. His training was traditional (after a two year apprenticeship he studied for two years to become a tanning technician at Reutlingen). After three years at Henkel Germany, he worked for eight years in top management functions for a tanning group (for six of these years he was in charge of a tannery in Northern Ireland).

World shortage of Lanolin causes price increase

Lanolin is obtained as a by-product from the wool industry and, owing to much reduced availability, its price has more than tripled over recent years. Forecast of Fashion Colours for Leather Autumn-Winter 2000/2001

TFL, in collaboration with the International Colour Authority have produced the new fashion colours forecast for autumn-winter 2000/2001. TFL is one of the leading suppliers of dyes and chemicals to the leather industry. This unique forecast is published 18 months in advance of the retail season, which helps the manufacturers and tanners to stay one step ahead of their own markets, thanks to their knowledge of future colour preferences.
