When producing washable articles for garment, all the products and auxiliaries used during the processing phases have to be selected meticulously.
Leather is defined as water-washable if its colour remains within the limits established by numeric values (range of grey) after it has been washed in accordance with a set standard and if shrinkage remains in the set limits. Other features, such as handle and softness also have to conform with the article?s requirements after washing. Today, TFL offers a comprehensive set of systems for a vast range of articles.

When washable suede has to be produced from lamb skins that have reached the white crust stage, the following products are recommended:

1. CORIPOL^® DX-1202: this sulphonated fatliquor is for the crust wetting back phase. Furthermore it has excellent light fastness properties and allows uniform dyeing. This product avoids the use of surfactants and ammonia for the wetting back process which would prevent the dye from being fastened firmly during the dyeing process.

2. SELLASET^®: this range of dyes is excellent, highly suitable for use during the dyeing in the manufacture of washable leather articles. The SELLASET^® dyeing system includes homogenous metal-complex dyestuffs, which also afford best wash fastnesses after fixing. Their overall properties (light-fastness and perspiration) are also excellent. They are fully compatible with one another and afford even tonality, which makes them ideal for trichromating dyeing, producing medium-dark colours as well as pastels.

3. EUPILON^® IN and EUPILON^® WAS-1: these products are highly recommended for the fatliquoring as they afford good water repellence, as well as a pleasant handle, even after repeated washing. We suggest to carry out the final capping using TANNESCO^® HN, our chromium-syntans.

4. MAGNOPAL^® SOF: this acrylic polymer with excellent softening properties is tailor-made for the re-tanning. It can be used both for standard applications with conventional fatliquors and as a re-tanning agent. MAGNOPAL^® SOF fastens and cross-links with the fibre almost inextricably, ensuring a soft, mellow handle, even after repeated washing. It is also ideal for manufacturing white articles on account of its excellent light-fastness.
