QDF Qingdao Dyestuff Factory, an old state-owned company sought to upgrade its technology. Ciba was searching a Chinese dyestuff partner. Thus both parties benefited from the decision to form a joint venture, namely Qingdao Ciba Chemicals Co. Ltd. QTFL arose from this partnership and started production in the course of 1996.
